Arizona in the News

In the past few weeks the State of Arizona has been in the news.  Apparently a state immigration bill has been signed into law, which empowers the police in the State of Arizona to request from any individual documents to prove citizenship.  What would motivate Naïve Americans to propose and pass such a bill?

I was pondering about this and came up with some possible reasons.  It might be that illegal immigrants (mostly unskilled laborers) are taking away jobs from Naïve Americans.  It does not take much to figure this is not the case.  Undocumented workers tend to work for less than the State minimum wage under conditions that in most cases would not be considered safe without any type of benefits.  I guess the issue is not loss of jobs :o

Another issue could be that with illegal workers many criminals make their way into the State and create problems for Naïve Americans.  Looking at the profile of people in prison, a very large percentage is African Americans and Hispanics.  In this case the State of Arizona should enact a law to profile African Americans, Hispanics, Muslims, etc in an effort to reduce crime in their State.  After thinking about this reason perhaps it does not make much sense either :o

So what is the issue with Naïve Americans that have made their home Arizona?  It appears that they are fed up with the Obama Administration (not much new or unique about such a spread feeling).  Naïve Americans in Arizona are demanding a reasonable and effective immigration bill that would provide a legal avenue for qualified foreigners that wish to move to the USA to work and call it home.  I believe most Naïve Americans could live with that.  The problem is that Immigration is Federal and not State business.  Imagine if you are driving in Minnesota down I35 and cross the state border line into Iowa.  You would then be required to stop and show proof of citizenship in order to enter Iowa.  Possible, but would be a step in the wrong direction.  Americans are free to roam the USA without having to show any documentation.  The same hold s true for citizens of countries in Europe that belong to the European Union.  They are able to cross countries without the need to stop and show proof of citizenship.  So the law in Arizona might not be a good and reasonable idea.

What we need in the USA is a simple and clean immigration law not generated by lawyers and / or career politicians.  Allow me to take a stab at such a bill here.  Any individual that wishes to come to the USA to work and live and sooner or later become a Naïve American must comply with the following:

* Speak and write English at high school level.  To prove it applicants must take a standardize test (e.g., TOEFL).

* Wear American / international clothing while in public.

Have a job offer depending on the type of job desired (e.g., student, field laborer, construction worker, electrical engineer, physician, etc).

To remain in the USA the individual must be employed.  Individuals unemployed for more than three (3) months must leave the country immediately.

Any children they have in the USA will consider a foreign national until both parents become US citizens.

Will not be able to adopt children until they become US citizens.

After ten (10) years in the USA without any criminal conviction they may apply for permanent residence.  Citizenship would be available after five (5) years or permanent residency.

Wages, taxes and benefits must be comparable to the ones offered to Naïve Americans.

** People that fail to leave should be sentence to ten (10) years in prison (no parole) per offense.

** Individuals and companies (responsible for hiring) hiring illegal workers should be sentence to ten (10) years in prison (no parole) per offense.

* These two (2) items are extremely important to promote cultural and racial integration.  The USA is the worse country in the world for cultural and racial integration.  The USA allows people to continue their ways in our country.  If a foreigner does not wish to assimilate to our culture and way of life, then the simple question to pose is:  WHY DO YOU WANT TO COME TO THE USA?  Today we still have African Americans, Hispanics, Latinos, etc, which do not identify themselves as Americans.  Our government has been bringing and allowing people to come in which have no interest in being here and dislike the USA.

** These sanctions would be good deterrents against illegal workers to come and stay in our country.

I do not intend to patronize Israel.  As a matter of fact many Naïve Americans and I are in doubt what Israel is.  Is Israel a country?  Are Jews just religion followers?  It does not matter for this blog entry.  What matters is that there are Jews all over the world with different ethnical and cultural backgrounds.  Israel has been able to assimilate Jews moving into Israel under a single language (Hebrew) and culture.  Here in the USA we have failed miserably to get this rather simple task accomplished.  Our career politicians should learn from the success of others (i.e., Israel) in order to come up with intelligent and logical immigration policies that are good for the country and not just pass bills that benefit special interest groups that bribe and sadly control politicians.

A reform in immigration law is required in order to eliminate many social and economical issues and promote unification in our country.  Discrimination (which is growing day by day) is partly a result of our immigration policies.

I would not put immigration reform on the top of the list of things to do by the current administration.  There are so many other things that desperately need to be addressed (i.e., government corruption, education, manufacturing, small businesses, economy, foreign policy, wars, space exploration, police, etc) before we have time and funds to take care of immigration.
