Are We Drinking The Purple Kool-Aid

st_patricks_dayToday is Tuesday March 17, 2015 (St. Patrick’s Day).  I typically write on weekends but some recent events in the news called my attention so before they dissipate and get forgotten I decided to generate a short blog entry.

Today, as already stated, is St. Patrick’s Day.  In the US it is mostly a cultural celebration done on the date of the death of Saint Patrick, the foremost patron saint of Ireland.  The day commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, and celebrates the heritage and culture of the Irish in general.  Celebrations tend to involve public parades and festivals, and the wearing of green attire or shamrocks.  Christians also attend church services and the Lenten restrictions on eating and drinking alcohol are lifted for the day, which has encouraged and propagated the holiday’s tradition of alcohol consumption.  My ancestors are not Irish and I do not tend to celebrate the day unless it falls on a Saturday.  Most food establishments tend to add some type of green food coloring to a draft beer.  I usually have one or two beers on weekends and do like fish and chips.  As a matter of fact, today my wife will be preparing fish and chips.  We will be skipping the beer.purple_cool_aid_obama

cult_of_deadFirst I would like to make a reference to the tile of this blog entry.  James Warren “Jim” Jones was an American cult leader and community organizer.  Jones was the founder and the leader of the Peoples Temple, best known for the mass murder-suicide in November 1978 of 909 of its members in Jonestown, Guyana, and the murder of five people at a near-by airstrip, including Congressman Leo Ryan.  Over two hundred children were murdered at Jonestown, almost all of them by cyanide poisoning.  The poison was added to purple Cool-Aid; hence the title of this blog entry.  Jones died from a gunshot wound to the head; it is suspected his death was a suicide.

In the past few weeks there has been a lot of indirect political activity by Democrats.  Republicans have responded here and there.  It seems that Americans in general have and continue to drink the purple Cool-Aid distributed by Democrats.  I would like to note that The Naïve American does not like politics because politicians are here to take advantage of people and profit from office.mnsure_logo

This week in the news in St. Paul, MN a widower has lobbied against MNsure (the health exchange in MN).  His wife died due to poor healthcare insurance coverage she got which caused her death earlier this year.  I do not know all the facts and chances are that very few people do.  That said, this might just be an isolated case (no matter how good a system might be; there will always be one-off issues).

healthcare_tax_subsidyI also read in the news that Obama is happy and publicly celebrating Obamacare.  The main point is that there are a few million people that did not have healthcare insurance in the past and now they do.  If your IQ is comparable to the one of a door knob then I understand why you would not question Obama’s statements and would be happy of improvements brought by the Democratic president.  For the rest of us with higher IQs than a door knob we read between the lines and relate previous events and what is happening today with healthcare in the USA.

Years ago prior to Obamacare, the news broadcasted a few seconds of Obama meeting with the CEOs of healthcare companies in the White House.  The CEOs told Obama what they wanted and how to work out things so the uneducated masses would be happy with Obamacare.  The idea of purchasing healthcare insurance by all Americans was to promote business for insurance companies.  The Americans that had and have a job have healthcare insurance as part of a package of benefits offered by employers.  They would not be affected by Obamacare.  Obamacare was for Americans that could not afford healthcare insurance.  Who in their right mind would not want to have healthcare insurance you might ask.  The answers:  people that cannot afford it.  So if you cannot afford insurance, you go to the web and get government aid to pay for your insurance.  Where is the government aid coming from?  You and me; the taxpayers.  So what issue has been solved with Obamacare?  None.  More money (profits) for healthcare insurance companies so they can pay their C-Level employees millions of dollars a year.  But if you realize the government scam and do not wish to be part of it?  To address the flaw, Democrats passed a law to force all Americans to have / buy insurance or face a penalty when they file their income tax on April 15 of every year.  WHAT A SCAM and most Americans are not able to see it.  In general, the cost of healthcare for Americans that do not get a subsidy has gone up.  If you do not believe me, just look at what you paid for healthcare insurance and co-pays a few years ago, adjust it for inflation and then compare it to today’s costs.  If you are not able to do so, send me your bills and I will do the basic arithmetic to demonstrate.obamacare_free_ride

As we all know our president is black.  He has surrounded himself with black people that seem to have an issue with race and is not interested in solving the issue but just exacerbate it.  I took a brief look at the statistics from Ferguson, applied some simple arithmetic, and came to the conclusion that the statistics are not that off.  That said; bigotry is not statistical figures.  It is a trait that our society needs to address with science and not politicians.  Having president Obama march on a bridge on the South and pushing a not so good movie (Selma) is not the way to solve the issue at hand.  They are just ways to hope to increase Democratic votes on the next presidential election.  The two police officers; last casualties of violence in Fergusson, MO were shot by a black 20 year old male.  Not much to add to this and police brutality.

ferguson_2_police_shotHilary Clinton (who cannot do wrong) has been eyeing the presidency for decades.  The Democratic Party is hoping that she will be their main candidate and will win the next presidential election.  She could well be the first woman US president.  That seems to go hand in hand with her ego.  The issues started decades ago when they (Bill and Hillary) were politicians in Arkansas. They promoted globalization on behalf of the Walton’s.  That had and still does have a bad impact on the US economy.  Let’s not touch on the real state issues of the time.

Hillary also had many issues when was the Secretary of State.  All those issues where brushed under the carpet and forgotten by Americans.  Lately the scandal of Hillary Clinton using a private mail server at one of her residencies for official business made the news but seems to have fizzled out.  The best of all is that she decided which messages to make public and which to keep private.  Yes, politicians do not follow the rules that common Americans like you and me do.  They have passed laws to protect themselves from corruption and accepting bribes charges.hillary_email_scandal

Governor Dayton in Minnesota is also a Democrat.  He should be recalled and be replaced by someone that is more eloquent and makes sense.  A few weeks ago he gave several of his staff huge salary raises.  In his enormous reasoning, the State of MN collected too much in taxes last year.  There is a surplus of 2 billion dollars.  In first place that money does not belong to the government.  It belongs to tax payers.  It should not have been collected.  Now that the money is in hands of the government they want to dispose of it as pleased.  In other words; use it to get more votes on the next election.  What is wrong with this picture and why do Americans put up with it.

full_day_K_mnLast but not least, we have the union of K-12 teachers with their 70,000 members.  They are powerful because they (family and friends) are a good part of the electoral vote.  As we know, a politician in office is a good politician at the begging call of the top 1%.  While a politician out of office is no good.  The latest effort of the union is to advertise that teachers are sharing their ideas among themselves in order to help students.  Not sure how this makes sense.  The US is still ranked 30th in outcomes in the world.  That does not say much of teachers.

One of the ideas that they come up with is to have K level kids stay a complete school day (way under 8 hours a day).  Their research seems to indicate that kids that attend a full day of kindergarten do better than kids that attend half day.  What kind of morons are we dealing with?  I am not an oracle, but my parents paid for my three sisters and me to attend a private school that had a full day of school K-12.  My two sons attended a private school with similar characteristics.  My two sons have their 4 children in private schools.  We need scientists to study and come up with recommendations to be applied without unions or politicians so our kids will be able to compete in the world and move from 30th place to first.clinton_globalization

Instead of giving our manufacturing away (Clinton’s globalization) to China, should we study and learn what they are doing in China and Asia in general and see how could we apply existing ideas to our broken public education K-12 system?  We need to revamp our political system.  We believe our system is pure and works.  The matter of fact is that is as corrupt as many countries and works in some instances as in most countries.  The same can be said for China, Latin America, Asia and European countries.
