U.S. to charge Iran in Cyber Attacks

stuxnetIt is snowing in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul.  Spring started a few days ago but is seems the weather did not get the memo.  Snow started late morning today.  The forecast calls for an end of the snow by tomorrow around 06:00 AM CDT.  It is about 06:00 PM and we have already received about 10 inches of heavy snow.  If it continues to snow overnight, we might be in trouble tomorrow morning.  Not much we can do.

The article “Exclusive: U.S. to charge Iran in cyber attacks against banks, New York dam – sources” published Wednesday, March 23, 2016 09:41 PM GMT by Reuters written by Dustin Volz, Nate Raymond and Jim Finkle called my attention.  Take a look at the first paragraph:cyberattacks-iran

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Obama administration is expected to blame Iranian hackers as soon as Thursday for a coordinated campaign of cyber attacks in 2012 and 2013 on several U.S. banks and a New York dam, sources familiar with the matter have told Reuters”.

Please take a few moments and read the entire article (http://nr.news-republic.com/Web/ArticleWeb.aspx?regionid=1&articleid=60760626).

My reaction, who died and made Obama king? Or it could more appropriately, who died and made the U.S. king?

The article portrays the U.S. as an innocent victim of cyber crimes.  It that were true, then we should all agree that the Obama administration is doing the correct thing by denouncing and seeking justice for the cyber attacks allegedly conducted in the past few years by China, Iran, and North Korea.  Reality is that the Obama Administration authorized the first ever cyber attack against a sovereign country (Iran). The last paragraph in the article reads:  “The United States and Israel covertly sabotaged Iran’s nuclear program in 2009 and 2010 with the now-famous Stuxnet computer virus, which destroyed Iranian centrifuges that were enriching uranium”.

In 2009 the Obama administration open Pandora’s Box and in 2016 it cries wolf at what China, Iran and North Korea (among others) are doing in retaliation against the U.S.  What is wrong with the political system in our country?  We definitely need to change our political system and our politicians.

As we all know, the Obama administration is also pushing to get backdoors and weaken encryption using some illogical reasons to scare people blaming terrorists of using encryption to hide their plans to attack democracies like ours.  Today, without weak encryption and no backdoors, foreign governments and bad guys are able to hack into banks and companies quite often.  Imagine what would it be with weaker encryption and backdoors?  That would signal the end of electronic commerce and on-line banking to say the least.

honest_politicianWhat our government needs to do to gain respect is to walk the talk.  It is a fact that politicians say things just to get people to elect them into office.  Once in office they do whatever is necessary to fill their pockets and be re-elected.  Politicians are of no use to the top 1% if they are not in office.  That is why politicians get so much money from secret donors to get elected.  Once elected, politicians need to pay back several times what they received.

We need a change.  Not sure if any of the candidates for the upcoming presidential elections will be able to change America and our political system in order to make America great once again.  We definitely are living in a world that is constantly changing.  We need to elect a person that does what he / she preach.  We do not need a politician with two or more faces.
